The Parent Coalition for Child Safety & Wellness (PC) (formerly Elkhart Community Schools (ECS) Parent Coalition for Bully Prevention & Mental Health) began within ECS in March 2022 in response to the local suicide of 12-year-old North Side Middle School student, Rio Allred; a known victim of bullying by her classmates. We have since grown and formed as a statewide community collective of dedicated parents and volunteers to pursue our mission of child safety and wellness. To encompass our growth, we have partnered with The United Village Inc., a local organization with a mission of serving at-risk youth and vulnerable populations.
In reflecting on our last year of advocacy both locally and at the state-level, we can confirm that the issues we are facing in our schools and communities surrounding bullying and child safety impacts us all and it will take a Village to ensure the safety and well-being of ALL our children. With this understanding, our PC is launching a Statewide CALL TO ACTION Parent & Community Campaign to create child safety and culture change through Advocacy, Education, and Empowerment. Our team of dedicated parents and volunteers recently testified and advocated to pass House Bill 1483; legislation that now requires schools to document bullying and/or abusive behaviors for the victim/student (our language), which took effect July 1, 2023!

Your contribution will enable us to continue supporting our youth and communities of Elkhart county. We are very grateful for your generosity.
